A quick way to make getting up easier each morning is to get around eight full hours of ZZZs, but let’s be real, that’s not always attainable. To help you get that uninterrupted, five to seven REM cycles of sleep, we rounded up a few tips to help you prepare for your sea of soft sheets and pillows:
Other sleeping tips to try:
+ Establishing a bedtime routine will get your body habitually ready to sleep (if you stick with it!).
+ Allow yourself only 30 minutes to rest or nap between the optimal time of 1 to 4 p.m., which is the low point of your circadian rhythm.
+ Avoid caffeine and other stimulants after about 3 p.m.; it takes on average six hours to completely leave your system.
+ Exercise in the morning or afternoon to give yourself enough time to cool down before you sleep.
+ Ease up on your alcohol intake; although it may help you fall asleep, you will tend to wake in the wee hours feeling restless.
+ If you go to bed showered and wiped away of the day’s dirt, you will start your next day fresh. Think about it: more time to roll out in bed in the morning!
