Long hair takes dedication and requires a little change of habit. Luckily there are many different approaches you can mix and match, so you don’t have to change your routine completely. Here are seven easy ways to get you long hair—quickly!
1. Let Your Hair Get Dirty
Skeptical? You really don’t need to wash your hair everyday! In fact, washing your hair every day means more exposure to unhealthy chemicals, such as sulfates. Showering also strips your hair from its natural oils, which is the stuff you need for those long luscious locks! If you are still hesitant, try dry shampoo for the days in between showering.
2. Bye, Bye Chemicals
Dying and bleaching increase your chances of breakage. If possible, limit your dye sessions, or try using a natural coloring method. The ombré look is still in — this might be your chance to rock in-grown roots and go longer between dyes! A lot of shampoos and conditioners have sulfates which over time wears on your hair. Look for shampoos and conditioners without sulfates, which usually either means natural or salon formulas.
3. Avoid the heat!
Constantly blow drying and using the flat iron on your hair is a recipe for breakage. Summer is the perfect time to take a break from these tools. However, if you do have to use these tools often make sure that you use a heat protectant spray. Sun also does not help the situation, make sure that you protect your hair with sun protection spray when you are out by wearing a cap — especially if you have color-treated hair! 4. Comb Carefully
Ever late and find yourself violently getting the snarls out of your hair? Coarsely running a brush through wet hair will ensure gaurenteed breakage. I suggest letting your hair dry before running a brushing through it or try using a wide tooth comb to get those snarls out.
